The kitchen cupboards are finally ready for action and so after cycling the boys to parkour at the Olympic Park and back it was finally time to start unpacking the temporary prep area in the lounge (basically the whole kitchen and dining room) back into its designated space. I almost wept with joy!
The downstairs renovations are still not entirely finished (when ever are they?) but moving all this clobber not only turned the kitchen back into a warm and lived in space it also gave us back our lounge. I love a bit of cleaning but vacuuming up 4 months of dust is satisfaction on a whole different level! Laying the pink Moroccan rug back down practically had me in ecstasy and arranging the orange cushion – the one that makes me feel happy just looking at it – sent me into outer space.
At some point when all the handles and worktops and tiles are on, and we have a dining table, the kitchen goods will be rearranged again in lovely baskets and jars (must buy these). But for now, i’m happy just to stare at lined up tins of tomatoes and throw myself on clean bare floorboards that haven’t seen the light of day since they were sanded down!
